Catalytic Activity of Copper and Cerium Oxides in Reaction of Ethanol Oxidation

I. V. Romanova

Abstract

Precursors for obtaining individual and mixed cupric and ceric oxides have been synthesized from citric solutions. Minimal temperatures for precursor decomposition and the composition of obtained compounds were determined by thermogravimetric analysis. Oxides obtained by the thermal treatment of precursors at 400ºC have been studied using X-ray diffraction method and low temperature of nitrogen desorption. It was shown that the formation of solid solution between the components and the large quantity of micropores in the sample causes the high catalytic activity of oxide mixtures ethanol oxidation.
